A riser recliner is an everyday companion. Getting the proportions right is the single most important decision you will make.

Most chairs are designed around an average person. A made-to-order riser recliner can instead be shaped around you, which is why measurements come first.
Start with seat height
Your feet should rest flat on the floor with your knees at roughly a right angle. Too high and your legs dangle; too low and standing becomes harder work.
Then consider depth and width
- Seat depth: your back should meet the backrest without the seat edge pressing behind your knees.
- Seat width: enough room to sit comfortably and use the armrests for support.
- Back height: support for your head and shoulders when reclined.
Choose the mechanism last
Once proportions are right, an advisor can explain mechanism options for the chair you are considering.
